Hundreds of electricity employees and engineers from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradhesh and Pondicherry attended the convention. Representatives of 18 organisations of electricity employees and officers spoke in the convention . Trade unions affiliated to CITU, INTUC, AITUC etc were the major participants. TNEB Engineers Association (TNEBEA) actively participated in the convention and its state president Sri K Appaswamy appealed the employees and engineers to unite together, irrespective of category, to fight against the evils of Electricity Act 2003. Even though KSEB Engineers Association (KSEBEA) is an affiliate of All India Power Engineers Federation(AIPEF), they abstained from the convention because of their know support for Electricity Act 2003. KSEBEA is still propagating the category rivalry to divert attention of their members from key policy issues like Electricity Act 2003.
Sri K O Habeeb (President, Electricity Employees Federation of India), Sri Shailendra Dubey (President , All India Power Engineers Federation) and Sri Chakradhar Prasad (General Secretary, All India Federation of Electricity Employees) addressed the gathering. Sri M G Suresh kumar of KSEB Officers Association(KSEBOA) and sri K T Kuriakose of Kerala Electricity Workers Federation (KEWF) also spoke in the convention.
