"The decision is going to affect 1000-odd staffers, primarily engineers hired by the companies directly since 2006 and not the ones that had been employed by the MPSEB," a top official, said.
"The board of directors of a power distribution company have already cleared the new salary structure and HR manual," he added.
MP Central Power Distribution Company Ltd. (MPCPDCL), MP West Power Distribution Company Ltd. (MPWPDCL) and MP East Power Distribution Company Ltd. were carved out of MPSEB in July 2002 and they started hiring staff since 2006, he said.
The new salary structure or HR manual won't apply to the staffers hired by the MPSEB, who are in the three distribution companies, he clarified.
Madhya Pradesh Energy Secretary Mohammed Suleman said that he isn't aware of the new salary structure adding that such things are looked after the board of directors of the respective companies.
However, he felt that some drastic measures are needed to bring down whopping Rs 12,000 crore accumulated losses of the three distribution companies. He opined that the staffers' wage was high.
