The Punjab State Electricity Board(PSEB) has tied up with a private company-KLG System- for providing on-the-spot billing and payment facility to residents. Scheduled to kickstart in August 2009, the service would not only save time, but also prove to be a boon for PSEB as consumers would not be able to evade bill payment. According to information, while amount up to Rs 1,000 would be payable with cash, any sum higher than that would require issuance of a cheque.KLG System- a Gurgaon-based company was hired to do the meter reading and issue on the spot bills. "Looking at the good response from the public, we have decided to extend it to two more divisions- CMC and Focal Point. In all, a total of 1.6 lakh consumers will avail of this facility at their doorstep. The service will start from August 1," said HS Randhawa, Deputy Chief Engineer, PSEB.
