Electricity Minister Sri.A K Balan said on 13-11-2008 that measures were taken to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply at Sabarimala, Pampa and Nilackal during the coming pilgrim season. Presiding over the meeting to review the preparations for the Sabarimala season at Pampa Devaswom Annadanamandapam, Balan said that the KSEB had already spent Rs 4.35 crore for the preparations for the pilgrim season.As a practice, Sabarimala, Pampa and Nilackal were exempted from the load shedding during the Mandalam-Makaravilakku season.
Sabarimala KSEB masterplan
The KSEB had submitted a detailed masterplan, looking into the long-term needs of Sabarimala festival, to the government for approval, Balan said.
The KSEB is yet to receive the response from the government, he said. The proposal for a mini hydel power station at Chenthamarakokka near Kunnar is under the consideration of the KSEB, Balan said.
The Minister said that the KSEB cleared the proposal for the construction of four checkdams as part of providing better facilities to the pilgrims.
