The electrification of all houses in the Kuzhalmannam Assembly constituency was declared by Electricity Minister Sri. A K Balan at a function held at the Government Higher Secondary School in Peringottukurissy on 02-11-2008.

The first panchayat to be totally electrified in the State was Kannadi grama panchayat which was declared in April 2007. This panchayat was part of this constituency. Now the remaining Kuzhalmannam, Mathur, Kuthanur, Kottayi, Peringottukurissy, Thenkurissy, Erimayur and Tarur panchayats have also been fully covered.
Around Rs 1.03 crore was spent to electrify all the houses in the constituency. In the last 22 years, 4,000 general, 350 scheduled caste and tribes and 1,750 BPL families were provided connection.

A total of 35 transformers were set up. Around Rs 30 lakh was spent from the local bodies fund. Around Rs 74 lakh from the MLA fund and Rs 5.8 lakh from the MP fund were also spent.

In order to streamline the services to the public, new section offices were set up at Kuthanur, Peringottukurissy and Kunissery and new division offices were set up at Kuzhalmannam and Alathur.
