Seminar on 'Kerala Power Sector - problems and solutions' was inaugurated by Sri. AK Balan, Minister for Electricity, Kerala state at Tagore Centenary hall, Kozhikode at 4PM on 27-09-2008 in connection with the 15th State onference of KSEB Officers' Association. Sri. K Asokan, Member (Transmission and Distribution, KSEB) was the moderator in the seminar.Sri. KA Sivadasan, President KSEB officers' Association welcomed the distinguished guests.

In the inaugural speach, Minister had pointed out the importance of Hydro power as a solution for power crisis. He had added that the Nuclear agreement with US will not solve the power shortage. The minister had blamed the UPA Government for not providing extension o KSEB despite requests from kerala Government. He reiterated the commitment of LDF to keep the Kerala power sector as a single entity in public sector.

Sri. SMC Pillai (Director(foundation), NTPC, New Delhi) presented the paper on 'Fossil Fuel power of Kerala -  Challenges and opportunities. 

 Sri. PA Sidhartha menon, Former Chairman, KSEB presented the paper on ' Power crisis - Organisational challenges'. Sri. MK Parameswaran Nair(Chairman, Mullaperiyar Special cell, Thiruvananthapuram)  presented the paper on ' Hydro power - Rethinking in Kerala perspectives'.
