The training program was organised by CDP State Committee at East Avenue Suites, East Nadakkavu, Kozhikode, on November 25th & 26. 32 participants including two ladies, from various districts were present for the program. The program started at 10 am. M.G. Suresh Kumar, State Secretary of Association had formally inaugurated the program. The function was presided by E. Manoj, A. Sajithkumar delivered the welcome speech and K.K. Bose expressed vote of thanks.
The training program on first day commenced with formation of four pilot groups among the participants with eight members in each group. The anxiety was only because of the substitution of the expected faculty Sri. J.C. HGF K.V. George with his successor Sri. J.C. Leo Johny, Pulpally. But soon it was realized that no need of anxiety as the faculty was competent enough to handle the session.
Throughout the program there were input sessions as well as output sessions which kept the participants to stay live. The indroduction itself was an interesting output session as each one had to introduce  his/her pair friend before the audience as he himself is/she herself is!!!
Input session started with topics such as power talk, various phobias, stage fear etc. It further discussed the constitution of the speech such as introduction, body language and conclusion. Also had a detailed study on various aspects of the speaker while delivering a presentation, concentrating on posture, gesture, grace, eye contact, voice modulation, time management, body language etc. rather than the content, as it says “you don’t just give a speech, you present it”.
The remaining output sessions of the day include one minute presentation of an unforgettable incident in the life, three minute presentation of a favorite subject (video recorded for counseling), instant story making with full participation of all four groups etc. ‘Presentation of an idea on chart paper with some available pictures from old magazines distributed’ was the assign-ment given for each group at the end of the day. Mean while video counselling started for individual with the video record.
The video counselling was the main attraction of the program as everybody could evaluate themselves as seen in a mirror. Each one could evaluate themselves the positives and negatives of their own presentation. The video counseling continued till midnight of the first day and continued again on the second day from 7 am. The result was amazing in the second day’s output session.
Second day started with judgement on group presentation given as assignment earlier. Each team presented their idea/message before the others and the trainer. And finally the Team-2 was declared as the best in group presentation.
The second day’s input session include topics such as nature of speeches, types of speakers,types of speeches and formulae of speaking etc.
The output session include two and a half minute presentation of another favourite subject (tribate). And finally the valedictory function.
The training program was excellent, very effective & informative as far as the trainer, mode of presentation, subject coverage, subject selection etc. are concerned.
The only suggetion for further improvement is about the course material, which may include a multimedia version illustrating speeches/presentations of leading personalities.
Sincere gratitude to the KSEB Officer’s Association, especially to Kozhikode District Committee - the key oraganizers of this training program, for organizing such an expensive but a valuable & effective training program like this is expressed here.
