7th state conference held at Alappuzha planned to start Career Development programme (CDP) by forming a technical sessions committee. Mr. R.Suku, AEE was selected as convener of Technical sessions committee.

Every year more than 1000 officers from KSEB will be given classes on various subject relevant in the Power industry. Many other officers, who are not members of KSEBOA also benefit from this programme. In the first year itself more than 1200 officers were trained in 4 subjects, i.e.

1. Project Implementation and Management
2. Selection and implementation of small hydel projects
3. Strategic financial planning and cash flow management in KSEB
4. Conduct of cases and legal matters in KSEB

 Technical sessions committee was formally inaugurated on 25-07-98 at Ochira Sreechakra auditorium by Sri SMC Pillai ( Power advisor to Govt. of Kerala). The function was presided by Sri sidhartha menon, Chairman of KSEB. First class was conducted with the help of NTPC on the subject "Project Implementation and Management". Sri. A Lodge (Deputy General Manager, NTPC), Sri. S.S.Mani ( Senior Manager, NTPC) and Sri. K.S Rajeev (Senior Manager, NTPC) were faculties.

Training on "Selection and implementation of small hydel projects" was conducted at Kakkad. Chinese experts and energy management centre conducted the classes. After the class, delegates visited SHP sites like Kakkad, Allunkal, Karikkayam, Maniyar Etc.

Sri. P.T Yohannan (DCE-IPC) and Sri James Thomas (Chief Internal Auditor) were faculties for the CDP class on the subject "Strategic financial planning and cash flow management in KSEB" . The classes were conducted at Palakkad, Kollam, Kottayam and Kozhikkode.

Class on "Conduct of cases and legal matters in KSEB" was also conducted in 4 places i.e. Kottayam, Kannur, Thiruvananthapuram and Thrissur. famous advocates like Sri. S madhusoodhanan, Sri. KK Dineshan, Sri. Prasad, Sri. ranadive etc were faculties for these classes.
