Power Sector studiesC-CAPSS (Centre for Computer Aided Power Sector Studies), one of the major subsidiaries of the Association, conducts regular research and studies on various areas of the Power Sector. It is a recognised training institute in Kerala for the Computer Education for the officers of the KSE Board.

Center for Computer aided Power Sector Studies (C-CAPSS) founded during early 1990’s is a sister concern of KSEB Officers’ Association with an objective of utilizing computer as a tool in power sector studies and to familiarize the new tool to the officers in KSEB. C-CAPSS started functioning during a period when the word computerization evoked harsh reactions in the society in general and the employees in particular. Much of the opposition was felt to be against a nonjudicious selection of areas of computerization and the fear for the ‘unknown’. Seeing this as a main hurdle in extending the utilization of computer as a tool,
the major initiatives by C-CAPSS were aimed at familiarizing the new tool to the officers of KSEB.
Initially training was imparted free to the members of the Association. Later during April 1993, KSEB identified the center as a recognized training destination and started deputing officers to the center for training in computer applications. Recently, the passing out ceremony of the 100th batch of officers deputed by KSEB for training was inaugurated by the then Minister for
Electricity, Sri.Kadavoor Sivadasan.

Several power sector study reports helped KSEB in making policy decisions including changing the computerisation policy from Microsoft based systems to Open source, simplifying service connection application procedures, re-organisation of civil wing etc.
